Careers in Transportation

Transportation engineers and planners focus on the planning and design of transportation systems. That can be ports, highways, bike networks, neighborhood streets, pedestrian systems, railways, airports, transit, or anything else that gets you from point A to point B!

Transportation professionals aim to improve the safety, mobility, and access of transportation to communities. Jobs in the public sector may include working for cities, counties, transit agencies, state transportation departments, or even federal or international agencies. Private sector jobs may include consulting for public agencies or private companies on a variety of projects. Transportation professionals may also work in academia or research.
